PT. Galic Artabahari is the first seaweed processing company in Indonesia. Born from a passion for people. One is to prosper Indonesian farmers, and second is to provide Indonesian consumers with natural and safe food texturizer.

We started our business in 1988, being a pioneer comes with a responsibility to educate farmers about seaweed cultivation and encouraged them to continue farming. It was costly and time-consuming; however, we believed in our product and the long-term potential of Indonesian seaweed.

Although we wanted to reach Indonesian consumers, many were not familiar with carrageenan and thus we started our business by exporting our product to Australia in 1989 and over the years we grew our market to our neighbouring Southeast Asian countries, Europe, United States, United Kingdom, USA, Russia, China, Thailand, etc. In 2005, local market finally caught up with the trend, with stricter food regulations, natural and safe food texturizer such as carrageenan was required.

Our carrageenan is made from 100% Indonesian seaweed and our distribution channel made it accessible to everyone. Furthermore, with the thriving demand of vegan and vegetarian food products from health-conscious consumers, our market continues to grow locally and Internationally.
